London 125 – Festival of Youth
London GAA is proud to be hosting a double weekend of youth games at its home at McGovern Park, Ruislip.
Youth chairperson Joel McInern said: “On behalf of the London Youth Committee, we are excited at welcoming all our players, members and their families to celebrate London GAA 125 at McGovern Park, Ruislip the home of GAA in London, where we have organised a celebration of GAA Sport over 6 days spread across the next two weekends.
“The idea came originally from our Senior County Chairperson Donal Corbet. Donal has been involved with the London’s Youth structure for many years and wanted the Youth to be at the centre of this unique milestone, as it is the Youth Players today that will be the driving force behind the success of London GAA for decades to come.
“It’s incredible to think, that our young Players are following in the footsteps of Michael Collins, Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy who all played GAA in London at various points through their journey in becoming legends in our rich Irish folklore.
“Over these two weekend it is an opportunity for all our Players to play Football & Hurling in their County Grounds and it is our hope that it creates and leaves fond memories for them and their families to look back upon in years to come.
“On behalf of everyone I wish to thank The Coaching & Games Committee for their hard work and dedication in creating these games for us all to enjoy, and thanks also to all our Youth Clubs for helping and supporting us on the day.”
